What is the Lighting in a Bottle festival?
Lightning in a Bottle (sometimes known as LIB) is a music festival which is held annually in the Central Valley district of California. The festival was first launched in 2006, and has continued to grow in popularity ever since.
It is organized and run by the Do LaB, who are also responsible for a series of art installations which are featured at some of the other major Californian festivals, such as Coachella. At the time it was launched, Lightning in a Bottle was designed to help champion areas which have since become more mainstream, such as sustainability and self expression. It has grown to become one of the most influential events of its kind, and remains one of the best things to do in San Diego.
Why is it called Lightning in a Bottle?
The event was named after a private birthday party which took place in 2000. Until 2003, the event continued to take place every year privately, before turning it into a festival. It is very popular for guests at the Good Nite Inn.
What happens at the festival?
Guests at the festival can expect a huge range of events and entertainment, spanning diverse industries such as art, music and culture. There are live music acts, as well as spectacular art installations, meditations and yoga classes. The musical lineup includes top acts such as Doja Cat and Dj Shadow, alongside key underground artists including Nina Kraviz and Jesse Wright.
