The San Francisco Bay is one of the most beautiful and fun parts of California. With many shades to its character, the San Francisco Bay incorporates breathtaking coastal nature reserves, vibrant progressively indeed cities, fascinating history, and forward-thinking tech companies. With Ivy League colleges and heaps of culture, it’s unsurprising that there are so many guests at the Good Nite Inn’s northern state hotels.
Buena Park’s theme park area might be the obvious choice for California getaways for families, the San Francisco Bay in the north of the state has a lot going for it too. From theme parks to world-famous landmarks, here are some of the most tourist-worthy attractions in the Bay area.
What Is San Francisco Bay?
With a shallow estuary running through its centre, the San Francisco Bay is one of the most popular holiday destinations in the state and boasts three large cities primed for tourism. These are San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, whilst the bay itself spans between 1000 and 4000 square kilometers, depending on where you state it’s water borders to be. The water of the bay itself drains from the Sacramento and San Joaquin Rivers and into the San Francisco Bat via the Carquinez Strait. This water eventually flows out to the Pacific Ocean, creating a complex ecosystem across the cities and wetlands of the bay. Whilst you won’t find Good Nite Inn Redwood City, you will find ample wildlife along the coast, with migratory whales and birds making their homes here.
Golden Gate National Recreation Area
San Francisco is by far the most popular tourist destination in the bay, but it’s nearby parkland – named after the famous bridge it connects to – is well worth a visit for some peace and quiet. Dominating 82,000 acres of woodland and urban park, the recreation area features such landmarks as Alcatraz Prison, Redwoods Muir Monument and camping grounds across scenic and historic landmarks such as the Presidio of San Francisco.
Silicon Valley
A huge source of income for the bay is Silicon Valley, named after the material, used by the abundance of tech companies situated here. Here guests at Good Nite Inn Fremont can see the Apple, Google and Tesla headquarters during cig wrenches and limited tours as well as enjoying the Tech Museum of Innovation and Computer History Museum that explore not only the business history of the beautiful valley, but that of technology itself.
Napa Valley
Home to cities such as St Helena and Napa itself, the beautiful streets and small-town ambience of California’s fertile “wine county” is well worth a visit. Even if you’re not of drinking age or don’t indulge in alcoholic beverages, seeing even just one of the 400 plus vineyards is a true sight to behold.
San Francisco
Of course, a trip to the Bay Area is not complete without at least getting a glimpse of San Francisco. This beautiful city is well known for its hilly terrain and links to the hippy scene of the 1960s, but there’s more to it than tectonic plates and beat poetry. San Francisco is home to many cultural and arts festivals and monuments as well as world-class galleries and museums such as the War Memorial Opera house and the Fillmore Theater. No wonder it’s the most livable city in the USA!
