If you’re planning to visit the San Diego area in the coming weeks – perhaps for a late summer vacation (take note of that Good Nite Inn check in time!) – then you’ll probably be pleased to learn the premier attraction that’s SeaWorld San Diego has been cleared by local officials to let in visitors again, and should be reopen from Friday 28th August.
To be clear, though, the whole venue won’t be opening – at least, not before the end of summer, it appears. At present, the attraction’s zoo areas will only be reopening under state guidance, following the announcement that, right across the state, California’s zoos can now accept visitors.
This means, then, SeaWorld’s outdoor areas are allowed to let in visitors; its indoor aquariums, rides and other attractions are yet to get the go ahead. All the same, it ensures the venue is ahead of the likes of Disneyland and California’s other theme parks – and many of its other major attractions – in opening up at all. Which is bright news, indeed, for those planning to visit Southern California, booking a stay at SeaWorld hotels San Diego.
Zoo Days: Bayside BBQ & Brews
Now, although visitors won’t be able to take in SeaWorld’s indoor-based attractions, there’s much to enjoy thanks to its ‘Zoo Days: Bayside BBQ and Brews’ events. Tickets for them are selling out fast, as you’d no doubt imagine; you’re advised to snap yours up (along with making a booking at Good Nite Inn San Diego with our Seaworld promo code, of course!).
So, with enhanced health and safety measures in place (including obligatory self-distancing), ‘Zoo Days’ involve checking out the grounds of the venue’s 40-acre park and experiencing fan-favorite animal exhibits and marine life presentations. Plus, of course, there’s food and drink to enjoy, what with BBQ- and beer-infused menus to order from and San Diego’s very finest craft brews to sample. Each Zoo Day includes:
• Chef-created BBQ, craft and domestic beer, wine, cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages of your choice (up to six selections)
• Open-air animal exhibits including Sea Lion Point, Otter Outlook, Dolphin Point and Explorer’s Reef Touch Pools
• Presentations including Dolphin, Sea Lion and the educational Orca Encounter, with social-distanced seating
• Sesame Street character meet-and-greets – a chance to get selfies with the legendary children’s TV heroes.
Other California Attractions
In other news, it should be noted a number of California’s other major attractions are yet to reopen properly – but that’s not to say they won’t be in the weeks to come, so don’t ditch those plans to book at hotels in California open. For instance, Buena Park’s Knotts Berry Farm has yet to reopen all its famed rides, but has reopened for food and beverage events, while Vallejo’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom has opened once more for its Marine World Experience.
Conversely, California’s Great America theme park at Cedar Fair has sadly announced it won’t open at any point this year (so far, it’s the only attraction of its kind in the state to make that decision), while Anaheim’s Disneyland may remain closed but has treated the public details of its upcoming Marvel-tastic Avengers Campus – an attraction that, thanks to construction work restarting now across California, may soon be open to visitors along with the rest of Disneyland.
