Sonoma is famous for its trendy wine tasting scene as visitors flock to the area to enjoy the experience. That’s why lots of people are checking into Good Nite Inn so they’ve got somewhere to rest afterwards. But if you’ve come to Sonoma with the family in tow, you want to find some child-friendly activities that will keep you all entertained. So that’s what we’ve done for you.
Enjoy It All Right from Rohnert Park
When you check in with your family, there are lots of hotels in California to choose from, but our Good Nite Inns are conveniently located throughout. Our Rohnert Park inn is the ideal place for your family to stay to enjoy a family break, with plenty on offer nearby. You can also explore further afield as it’s only a short drive to some great locations…and you can take in the coastal scenery along the way!
Number One – Get on Your Bike
Perhaps the nearest you can get to tasting what the wine country has to offer, Sonoma Valley Bike Tours is a fantastic way for you to enjoy a bike ride and take in the amazing scenery. Good news is that you don’t have to bring your own bike. Just head off from Good Nite Inn Rohnert Park over to the bike tours and you can rent bikes for you and the kids. If you want to, you can take on a full or half-day guided bike tour…however lots of these include stopping off at vineyards for wine tasting. You may love that but your kids won’t, so we recommend exploring the quiet country roads instead.
Number Two – Explore the Coast
In Sonoma you’re not that far away from the coast, and that’s something that everyone in the family will love. You could take a scenic drive up the coast as you explore the rest of California, even the kids will appreciate the view. But more importantly, why not stop off at one of the many beaches. Bodega Bay is probably one of the easiest to get to and from there you can drive up the coast and explore all the other beaches as you do.
Number Three – Take to The Treetops
Do you and your family love thrill-seeking activities? Then for the adventurers in you the Sonoma Canopy Tours will be ideal. Strapped in securely, you can zip line across seven different lines, climb a spiral staircase and enjoy the ultimate treehouse before traversing further across like Tarzan. You’ll be able to see the famous Redwood trees all while you’re doing so. Please note though that kids need to be at least 10 years old to take part.
Number Four – Head Downtown
Sometimes it’s nice just to have a relaxing amble down the road, exploring shops, cafes and the local scene. Take the family downtown and you’ll get all that. Galleries, shops, tasting rooms and buildings steeped in history will keep you all entertained for a while. Maybe you’ll want to go to the cheese factory and try some samples? And if you really want to try out some wine while you’re in Sonoma, the Bump Cellars is ideal for kids as it comes with games to keep them occupied!
Number Five – Go Peanuts!
You can’t come to Sonoma without going to the Charles M. Schulz Museum. Find out how some of the most famous characters got their names, discover the origin of Snoopy and get some great pictures for the photo album.
